Spencer Sandor

Spencer is a public servant currently working in Toronto as a Senior Policy Advisor with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing where he leads files related to municipal governance. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario.
Driven to help organizations succeed in delivering positive impacts to their communities, Spencer has served in various leadership positions with non-profit organizations and professional associations dealing with issues ranging from food and nutrition, environmental stewardship, employment, youth education, and professional development. Notably, he has served as the Chair of Growing Chefs Ontario where he led a significant change management initiative that helped the organization grow to launch one of the first standalone youth food education and social enterprise facilities in Canada. 

Spencer has also served as the Chair of IPAC-Incite – the national new professionals’ network of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, and the Western University Local Government Alumni Society. Other board and advisory positions include with IPAC-Southwest Ontario, High Park Nature Centre, the London Employment Help Centre, United Way Elgin Middlesex.

Spencer’s approach to leadership focuses on building institutional capacity through clear governance practices. He tries to build consensus during decision-making by ensuring that as many perspectives and considerations can be captured and encouraging people to proactively bring forward items of concern so they can be addressed strategically. In recognition of his professional and community service achievements, in 2017, Spencer was awarded with the Huron University College Young Alumni of Distinction and was named to the inaugural London North Centre Honour Roll.
